My work explores "Identity", "Self" and the nature of symbols and the narratives large an small that make us who we are.

I see myself as a story teller whose work reflects upon lives lived and navigated by the human compass of emotion and experience.  The narrative is sometimes literal, though often symbolic and always aimed to engage my audience through a sense of recognition of those things that are familiar and which arc back to our shared human experience combined with the unique and intriguing individual perspective of the story teller.

I am concerned with the nature of narrative and the role it plays in our construction of identity.  How is it that we come to recognise who we are?  How do we determine our place in the world? How do we relate and respond to the forces natural, man-made, imagined or even virtual, that shape our lives? What is the nature of symbols in the telling of our stories? How do the experiences and challenges of our lives become our stories and through our stories become us?  These are the questions that intrigue me and influence my work.
