This is a fun socialble 2 day workshop - where Artist Michelle Shearer will share the tips and tricks to create your own unique concrete garden ornament using her “junk armature” technique. You will learn how to build an armature using everyday recycled materials that would usually end up in the trash. Later rendering the form with concrete to create an enduring work of art suitable to be placed outside.
Day 1 Meet and great – discussion about planned sculptures, Introduction to materials and building techniques, creating sculpture armatures using wire & recycled materials. Hand mixing concrete, Use of Add Mixes, Adding Base coat of Concrete to sculptures
Day 2 Adding final coat of concrete and creating finished details (In general, the finished sculptures will need to sit for a few days to harden – but will be strong enough to be moved and can be picked-up the following week)
Materials and Equipment required to complete the project will be provided. Participants are asked to provide their own pair of rubber gloves (dishwashing style gloves). The Workshop is planned to take place outside – so wear weather appropriate ‘old’ clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty
